About two hours after the Orlando Magic officially selected Victor Oladipo with the second overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, the former Indiana Hoosier joined the Orlando media via conference call to discuss his future with the team. Technical difficulties delayed the start of the call and forced John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com into sound-check duty on one of the mics, but those difficulties were fixed quickly enough.

"When my name was called, I was just [thinking], 'Wow, I can't believe they just called my name.' But I couldn't stand there because they wanted me to move fast." Victor Oladipo

Oladipo said he didn't know that the Magic had picked him until NBA commissioner David Stern called his name. "It was just a surreal experience," he said. "When my name was called, I was just [thinking], 'Wow, I can't believe they just called my name.' But I couldn't stand there because they wanted me to move fast."

A 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Indiana, Oladipo made it clear that he's excited to work hard for the Magic's "program," a word he used several times on the conference call. "I just thanked God that they called my name. I can't wait to get down there and work on it."

What Oladipo is most looking forward to, he said, is getting to know his new teammates; he hasn't met any of them but did say, "from what I hear they're great people." He's eager to earn their trust because "I'm going to go to war with them every night."

Overall, Oladipo said he felt "blessed and humbled" to join the Magic. "I'm just glad to be able to go out there and impact winning, save the program, help change the program in a positive way," he said.
