Rumors linking the Orlando Magic to Los Angeles Clippers point guard Eric Bledsoe reached a peak Thursday when ESPN Insider Chad Ford reported that the teams had "mutual interest" in making a trade involving Bledsoe and Magic swingman Arron Afflalo. Wednesday, Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated provided an update on the talks.
"Los Angeles prefers to keep Bledsoe for now in hopes of landing a bigger offer," according to Mannix, who cites a source.
In the rumored deal, Orlando would convey Afflalo to the Clippers in exchange for Bledsoe and the expiring contract of Caron Butler. Bledsoe figures to be a hot commodity around the league, given his age and productivity in relief of All-Star point guard Chris Paul, so it makes sense that L.A. would shop around for better offers than the Magic's.
