The Orlando Magic will be short two big men when they visit the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday in a matchup of the league's two worst teams. As Dante Marchitelli reported on Tuesday's Magic Drive Time radio program (via Orlando Magic Daily), Andrew Nicholson did not travel with the Magic to Charlotte. The rookie power forward sprained his left ankle less than six minutes into Monday's loss against the Miami Heat.
Nicholson joins second-year center Nikola Vučević, the league's fourth-leading rebounder, among Orlando's injured big men. Vučević also stayed in Orlando, owing to a minor concussion.
In his first season out of St. Bonaventure, Nicholson is averaging eight points and 3.4 rebounds per game on a team-best 53.5 percent shooting. In three games against the Bobcats in 2012/13, the 23-year-old is averaging 10.3 points and seven rebounds, including a 13-point, 12-rebound effort on February 19th.
At 18-53, the Magic are 1.5 games "behind" Charlotte for the league's worst record.
