The Orlando Magic do not appear to be motivated to trade J.J. Redick before the February 21st, 2013 trading deadline, reports Steve Kyler of HOOPSWORLD.
"Sources close to the process say Redick has expressed a desire to sign a new deal in Orlando," Kyler says, "or at least work through a sign-and-trade in exchange for not being dealt at the deadline and the Magic seem open to that."
Further, the Magic probably won't overhaul their roster at the deadline. "[A]ny serious transactions are more likely in the offseason," says Kyler.
Trading Redick before the deadline would seem to make sense for Orlando, if the right offer came along. The Duke product's trade value has never been higher, and his expiring contract would make him a low-risk pickup for playoff teams looking to bolster their wing rotations.
