Veteran power forward Al Harrington won't suit up for the Orlando Magic on Wednesday when they visit the Dallas Mavericks, according to Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel. Harrington has missed Orlando's entire 2012/13 season to recover from a staph infection in his right knee. His absence Wednesday means that he will not have a chance to demonstrate his skills and his health before the 2013 NBA trading deadline, which is Thursday at 3 PM Eastern.
Harrington joined the Magic from the Denver Nuggets in August as part of the Dwight Howard trade. He has not played since May 12th, 2012, when the Los Angeles Lakers eliminated Denver from the playoffs. His 14.2 points and 6.1 rebounds off the bench--he started just once in 64 appearances--made him a fourth-place finisher in Sixth Man of the Year voting.
Without Harrington, Orlando has relied on Glen Davis and Andrew Nicholson for the majority of its power-forward minutes. Gustavo Ayón and Josh McRoberts have filled in there as well, though their roles have diminished in recent weeks. Davis broke his foot on January 30th and could miss the rest of the season.
