The Orlando Magic released an update on the status of injured big man Glen Davis, who broke his left foot in Wednesday's loss to the New York Knicks. He was scheduled to undergo surgery Friday.
"Glen Davis' surgery was successful and the procedure to repair his left foot fracture of the 5th metatarsal was as expected," the team said in a statement. "The procedure entailed inserting a screw to stabilize the injury and help in the healing process."
The team announced Thursday that it expects Davis to miss 8-to-12 weeks. Such a timeline gives him a small window to return in the 2012/13 season, but it seems more likely that his season is finished.
Davis' per-game averages of 15.1 points and 7.2 rebounds rank as career-bests and also as the second-best figures on the team.
