The Orlando Magic visit the Boston Celtics on Friday looking to end a seven-game losing skid. Tipoff is set for 7:30 PM Eastern on Fox Sports Florida in the Orlando market. The Orlando Pinstriped Post GameThread will appear at 5:30 PM in this StoryStream and on the cover.
Orlando's last time out: Starting guards Jameer Nelson and J.J. Redick combined for 50 points, but they got precious little help from their teammates as the New York Knicks toppled the Magic, 113-97, in a game that didn't feature much defense. Tyson Chandler scored 21 points on 10-of-11 shooting to lead six Knicks in double-figure scoring. New York drained seven three-pointers in the fourth period to put some distance between itself and the visitors, who entered the fourth trailing by only six points.
Boston's last time out: The Celtics topped the visiting Sacramento Kings, 99-81, on Wednesday behind a dominant second quarter. Boston outscored the Kings by a 37-14 margin in the second, which lopsidedness allowed the Celtics to prevail easily despite losing each of the other three quarters. The Celtics shot 16-of-20 from the field in the second and committed only three turnovers. Overall, Paul Pierce led Boston with 16 points.
The last meeting: Boston held off a second-half Magic rally to win in overtime, 116-110. The Magic trailed by 10 points at halftime but fought their way back, taking a two-point lead with 1:34 to go on a Glen Davis layup. Kevin Garnett answered with a tying jumper to knot the score at 102, and neither team scored for the rest of regulation. Minutes later, Pierce hit a go-ahead three-pointer which gave the visiting Celtics the lead for good.
