The Orlando Magic will not have Nikola Vucevic available for Friday's game against the New York Knicks, reports John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com. The NBA's seventh-leading rebounder sprained his left ankle in Monday's loss against the Washington Wizards when he stepped on a cameraman's foot. According to Denton, Vucevic went through a pregame workout Friday, but determined his ankle was too sore to risk playing on it.
Magic coach Jacque Vaughn will replace Vucevic in the starting lineup with Andrew Nicholson, reports Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel. The start will be the first of the season for Nicholson, who came off the bench in Wednesday's double-overtime loss against the Philadelphia 76ers. Jason Maxiell started in Vucevic's place that night, tallying 12 points and three rebounds.
Nicholson is averaging 9.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in his second season out of St. Bonaventure. His True Shooting mark of 58.9 percent ranks second on the team.
