For the second time in the 2013/14 season, a Miami Heat player beat out Orlando Magic swingman Arron Afflalo for Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors.
The NBA announced Monday that Heat center Chris Bosh earned Player of the Week for December 23rd-29th, during which period he posted per-game averages of 22.3 points, eight boards, 1.3 steals, and 1.8 blocks as Miami went 3-1. Those numbers trump Afflalo's: the UCLA product, whom LeBron James bested for the November 11th-17th award, averaged 23.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists for Orlando as it won two of its three games.
Afflalo takes on Bosh, James, and the rest of the Heat on Saturday in Orlando. The Magic's leading scorer has yet to win Player of the Week at any point in his career.
The other nominees for Eastern Conference Player of the Week were James and Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry.
Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant earned Player of the Week honors in the West.
