Jameer Nelson is in the final fully guaranteed season on the contract he signed with the Orlando Magic in 2012, and given where the team stands, it's possible that the team will look to trade him before the NBA trading deadline on February 20th, 2014. In an interview with Ian Thomsen of Sports Illustrated, the veteran point guard said he's less concerned with his future than he is with playing in the present.
"If they tell me they're going to trade me, what can I do?" Nelson told Thomsen. "My job is to play, no matter where it is. I would love to continue to play here in Orlando and finish my career here, and see this thing turned around."
Marc Stein of ESPN reported on November 1st that the Magic want a future first-round Draft pick in exchange for Nelson, the team's all-time assists leader.
Now in his 10th season, all with Orlando, the 31-year-old Nelson is averaging 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.2 assists on 35.8 percent shooting from the floor.
