The Orlando Magic officially begin their 25th season on Tuesday when they visit the Indiana Pacers in the first game of the NBA's 2013/14 season.
Tipoff between Orlando and Indiana is set for 7 PM Eastern on Fox Sports Florida and ESPN 580 AM in Orlando. The Orlando Pinstriped Post GameThread will appear at 5 PM in this StoryStream and on the cover.
Orlando's last time out: The Magic's preseason ended in a blowout loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. For perspective on Orlando's approach to the game, consider that the team waived four of its eight players who took the floor in the second half. Manny Harris, one of those unlucky four, led the team with 12 points.
Indiana's last time out: The Pacers ended their preseason on a three-game winning streak with a 98-77 win over the Dallas Mavericks. Paul George stuffed the stat sheet with 28 points, six rebounds, six assists, and three steals for the visitors, who bounced back nicely after opening the preseason 0-5
In 2012/13: The Magic took the first meeting between the teams, 97-86, but lost the next two meetings by an average margin of 25.5 points. In the season series-ending loss on March 19th, Orlando shot 31.8 percent from the floor, scored 73 points, and its two leading scorers managed only 10 points apiece. Indiana was, in other words, squarely in command.
