Watch: Kyle O'Quinn hits go-ahead basket for Magic against Pistons

The second-year big man scored with 38 seconds to play Sunday to propel Orlando over Detroit.

The Orlando Magic blew a 23-point lead against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, but ultimately prevailed on the strength of a Kyle O'Quinn layup with 38 seconds to go. Video of the play is embedded above.

Detroit, leading by an 86-85 margin at the time, nearly added to its lead when Andre Drummond tipped a lazy pass by Ronnie Price and almost secured possession of the loose ball. Instead, Magic big man Solomon Jones fell on the ball and managed to deliver it to Romero Osby. His drive to the rim sucked Josh Smith away from O'Quinn, creating a passing lane. O'Quinn received the pass, faked Smith and the recovering Drummond into the air, and then patiently laid the ball in for the game's deciding points.

Perhaps the best detail in the clip is that Smith and Drummond bought the fake despite the fact that O'Quinn was facing away from the basket at the time.

The basket capped Orlando's win, yes, but also a great night for O'Quinn. The Norfolk State product started at center and played a team-high 40 minutes, finishing with 12 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and four blocked shots.
