The Orlando Magic, still seeking their first victory, open a two-game exhibition roadtrip Monday against the Dallas Mavericks.
Tipoff between Orlando and Dallas is set for 8:30 PM Eastern on ESPN 580 AM in Orlando; the game will not be televised. The Orlando Pinstriped Post GameThread will appear at 6:30 PM in this StoryStream and on the cover.
Orlando's last time out: The Magic squandered a lead which had ballooned to 18 points in the first half in Friday's 110-105 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rookie forward Anthony Bennett scored 14 of his 16 points in the final frame to put Orlando away. Victor Oladipo tallied 18 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and a block off Orlando's bench.
Dallas' last time out: The Mavs visited the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday and built a 15-point lead through three periods, and ultimately held on for a 95-90 victory. Future Hall-of-Fame forward Dirk Nowitzki scored 20 points on 10 shots in 24 minutes, and former Magic swingman Vince Carter added 12 points in 15 minutes off the bench. Dallas limited Memphis to 2-of-20 shooting from beyond the arc.
In 2012/13: The Mavs swept the season series. They prevailed in the most recent meeting, on February 20th in Dallas, due in part to their dominance in the opening and closing periods, during which they outscored the visitors by a 70-44 margin. The final score in that game was 111-96. Six Mavs scored in double-figures, and Orlando fell despite 21 points from Arron Afflalo and a 20-point, eight-rebound effort from Maurice Harkless.
