Arron Afflalo, the Orlando Magic's leader in scoring and minutes played, will not be available for Monday's game against the Brooklyn Nets, coach Jacque Vaughn said before tipoff, according to John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com. Afflalo strained his left calf during Saturday's practice and again in Sunday's loss to the Detroit Pistons. His inability to play through the pain prompted Vaughn to use E'Twaun Moore at shooting guard in Afflalo's stead as Orlando tried and failed to rally against Detroit.
Afflalo is averaging career-highs in scoring (16.7 per game) and minutes played (36.7) in 43 appearances, all starts, for the Magic in his first season with the team. Those figures also lead Orlando on a team-wide basis.
Maurice Harkless will start at small forward in Afflalo's place, according to Fox Sports Florida. In 20 starts, Harkless has averaged 3.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in 18.2 minutes.
