Boston, Brooklyn, New York, and Philadelphia all underwent major changes in the offseason. The Celtics lost shooting guard Ray Allen to free agency, but added combo guard Jason Terry and former Orlando Magic shooting guard Courtney Lee. They also regained the services of combo forward Jeff Green, who missed the 2011/12 season due to a heart ailment.

Brooklyn, for its part, parlayed middling players on cheap contracts into All-Star swingman Joe Johnson. It also locked up All-Star point guard Deron Williams to a long-term contract.

New York let sensational point guard Jeremy Lin leave via free agency, but added veterans Raymond Felton and Jason Kidd to man the position. Free-agent center Marcus Camby joins the club to add depth at center.

The Sixers parted ways with All-Star swingman Andre Iguodala in the four-team trade which sent the Magic's Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers. In return, they received All-Star center Andrew Bynum.

The Raptors' moves were less drastic, but the rebuilding club nonetheless added rookie center Jonas Valančiūnas, the fifth overall selection in the 2011 NBA Draft.
