The Orlando Magic will trade superstar center Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday morning, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.com, citing a "source close to the talks." Stein indicates the teams involved in the trade have scheduled a call with the league office for Friday, and that Orlando's haul in the trade would be--at minimum--Denver Nuggets swingman Arron Afflalo, Denver power forward Al Harrington, Philadelphia 76ers center Nikola Vucevic, and future first-round draft choices. The Magic would send Howard to Los Angeles and swingman Jason Richardson to Philly.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported Thursday afternoon that the Magic, Lakers, Nuggets, and Sixers were engaged in trade discussions. Several other writers confirmed that report. Initially, it appeared as though the Lakers would send All-Star big man Pau Gasol to Orlando, but Stein says the current iteration of the deal will keep Gasol in Los Angeles.
