The Orlando Magic have hired Scott Perry as Vice President and Assistant General Manager and Matt Lloyd as Assistant GM, the team announced Friday. Perry comes to Orlando from the Detroit Pistons, where he served as the VP of Basketball Operations, while Lloyd joins the Magic after 13 years with the Chicago Bulls, most recently as their Director of College Scouting.
"We are ecstatic to add Scott and Matt to our Orlando Magic family," Magic GM Rob Hennigan said in a statement the team issued. "Scott and Matt bring multi-dimensional skillsets to our front office, and they both will have tremendous input in how we shape this organization going forward."
With the Pistons, Perry's duties included "directing day-to-day operations of the basketball operations department, handling player personnel issues and assisting in roster development," according to the Magic.
Lloyd is renowned in NBA circles for developing and maintaining a statistical database of professional and college players and figures to fit in well with the analytics-oriented approach Hennigan is bringing to Orlando's basketball operations department.
Since taking over as GM, Hennigan has fired assistant GM Dave Twardzik, six members of Orlando's scouting department, and Director of Player Development Adonal Foyle.
