The Orlando Magic are among several teams to register interest in trading for Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith, reports Marc Stein of ESPN, but the Hawks do not appear to be interested in parting ways with the Atlanta native yet. As Stein notes, new Atlanta General Manager Danny Ferry, who has a six-year contract with the team, wants to take some time to assess his roster before making any drastic changes to it.

Smith averaged posted career-highs with 18.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game in 2011/12. He added 3.9 assists and 3.1 combined steals and blocks. In addition to his on-court talents, Smith's longtime friendship with Magic center Dwight Howard could also play a role in Orlando's interest in acquiring him.

According to ShamSports, Smith is owed $13.2 million in 2012/13, the final season of his contract, which contract includes a 15-percent trade kicker.
