NBA Rumors: Orlando Magic Hire Scott Perry, According to Report

.
.

The Orlando Magic have hired Scott Perry as their assistant General Manager, Chris Broussard of ESPN reports. Broussard first reported Orlando's interest in Perry on Sunday, and it appears as though the two parties worked quickly to finish a deal to bring him to Orlando.

Perry comes to the Magic from the Detroit Pistons, where his title was Vice President of Basketball Operations. He spent one year working alongside Magic GM Rob Hennigan, who's been with the Magic since only Wednesday, with the Seattle SuperSonics, also as their assistant GM.

With Detroit, Perry was "responsible for directing day-to-day operations of the basketball operations department, handling player personnel issues and assisting in roster development."

Perry arrives in Orlando at a time when many others are departing: Hennigan dismissed Dave Twardzik as assistant GM, along with six members of the scouting department, on Sunday. Hennigan also fired Adonal Foyle on Monday.
