The Orlando Magic made NBA headlines for all the wrong reasons Thursday afternoon when coach Stan Van Gundy revealed to the media, on the record, that All-Star center Dwight Howard has asked the team to fire him. Howard made the situation worse by crashing Van Gundy's media scrum and putting his right arm around the coach. He denied media reports that he asked the Magic to fire Van Gundy, utterly unaware that Van Gundy himself confirmed those reports just moments earlier.

Van Gundy excused himself shortly after Howard's arrival.

The Magic have posted video of the awkward encounter on their website. Please be advised that Orlando's coach uses some colorful language.

Additionally, the team has posted Van Gundy's full, 17-minute pregame session and another 3:50 clip of Howard.

The Magic take on the New York Knicks on Thursday night at Amway Center, looking to snap a four-game losing streak and avenge an embarrassing loss to the Knicks last Wednesday.
