Magic feel "no urgency" to trade J.J. Redick, according to report

Redick's expiring contract makes him an obvious trade target, but Orlando doesn't feel the need to trade him right away, a report says.

The Orlando Magic have considered trading J.J. Redick, but feel "no urgency" to do so immediately, reports Ric Bucher of Comcast SportsNet. The veteran shooting guard is in the last year of a three-year contract he signed with the Chicago Bulls, which contract Orlando matched in restricted free agency.

One reason for Orlando's reluctance to trade the Duke product is its own success on the floor. As Bucher notes, Orlando has won six of its last nine games to bring its record to 6-3. Another reason is that would-be suitors for Redick "aren't anywhere near making their best offer." The former ESPN scribe says the teams most interested in Orlando's sixth man are Chicago, the Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, Milwaukee Bucks, and the Utah Jazz.

If the Magic do trade Redick, Bucher says they will seek "younger talent and/or a draft pick" in return.

In his seventh season, Redick, whom Orlando made the 11th overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, is averaging career-highs in per-game scoring (14.1) and assists (five).
