The Orlando Magic stand at 8-12 after a successful Western roadtrip during which they won three times in five tries, including back-to-back wins against the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors. As one might expect from a team in the week after a long roadie, Orlando has a light schedule, with just three games on the slate.
Orlando Pinstriped Post looks ahead at the Magic's schedule for the coming week. All times listed are Eastern.
Wednesday: Magic vs Atlanta Hawks, 7 PM, Fox Sports Florida
The Hawks unloaded Joe Johnson's lucrative contract over the summer and restocked with veterans on small deals, many of them expiring. To everyone's surprise, they're currently third in the East, just a half-game behind the Miami Heat for second.
Atlanta has won five straight meetings against the Magic, including an 81-72 slugfest on November 19th. The NBA announced Monday that Hawks forward Josh Smith earned Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors for averaging 21 points, 12 rebounds, and two steals per game as Atlanta went 3-0.
Friday: Magic vs. Golden State Warriors, 7 PM
Not long after upsetting the Dubs at ORACLE Arena, Orlando plays host to them at Amway Center. Golden State stands fifth in the West and won't be an easy out.
ESPN initially had this game on its schedule, but dropped it. The Magic have yet to announce telecast plans for the home market.
Saturday: Magic at Charlotte Bobcats, 7:30 PM, Fox Sports Florida
After a 7-5 start, the Bobcats have lost seven straight games, tied for the longest active skid in the Association. The Magic have beaten the Bobcats in 11 of the last 12 regular- and post-season meetings between the teams.
