Watch: Glen Davis' big follow slam

Glen Davis follows in Arron Afflalo's miss for two of his game-high 29 points.

The Orlando Magic won their first game of the post-Dwight Howard era on Friday night, defeating a listless Denver Nuggets squad by a 102-89 final behind 29 points from Glen Davis. The LSU product, now in his sixth season, shredded Denver's defense with 13-of-25 shooting, including an incredible 10-of-15 mark in the restricted area, according to's stats tool.

Davis had several big buckets for Orlando, but perhaps none more spectacular than the dunk with which he wound down the first half. Magic two-guard Arron Afflalo uncorked a long two-pointer from the right side, but it missed the mark. Davis, who had been loitering at the weak-side elbow, crashed the boards and followed Afflalo's miss with a one-handed slam.

Second-year forward Kenneth Faried missed his assignment badly on the play, failing to block out Davis to prevent him from getting the easy putback. Perhaps that miscue, and others like it, explains why Faried, who started the game, logged only 6:37 in the second half.
