The Orlando Magic received bad news Friday evening in their opening game of the 2012/13 season. Starting small forward Hedo Türkoğlu left the game in the third quarter with an injury to his left hand. According to Magic sideline reporter Paul Kennedy, the team has diagnosed Türkoğlu with a broken hand, and the 33-year-old will miss "some time" with the injury.
In his 17 minutes before breaking his hand, Türkoğlu posted six points, two rebounds, one assist, and two steals. It's unclear who will replace him in Orlando's lineup long-term, as his backups DeQuan Jones and Maurice Harkless are both nursing injuries as well. It's possible that starting two-guard Arron Afflalo could shift to small forward, opening up two-guard minutes for J.J. Redick.
Stay tuned for Orlando Pinstriped Post for more updates on Türkoğlu's status as it becomes available.
