Jameer Nelson and J.J. Redick will be in the Orlando Magic's starting five Monday night against the Atlanta Hawks even though both veterans are battling illness, reports John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com.
Redick felt too ill to play in Sunday's loss to the Toronto Raptors and his status for Monday's contest was in question until just before tipoff. "I’m feeling better, but I have a ways to go to recover," Redick told Denton after Monday's shootaround. Against Toronto, undrafted rookie DeQuan Jones started in Redick's place and contributed seven points and five rebounds.
Nelson, who has already missed six games this season, also felt sick in the hours leading up to Monday's tipoff. Now in his ninth season, the St. Joseph's product is averaging 10 points and a career-best 8.7 assists per game, but is shooting a ghastly 27.3 percent from the floor.
Arron Afflalo, Glen Davis, and Nikola Vučević round out Orlando's starting lineup.
