The Orlando Magic may have Jameer Nelson back in their starting lineup Friday against the Detroit Pistons, ending a six-game absence for the veteran point guard. According to John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com, "indications are" Nelson will be back in uniform for Friday's contest, though coach Jacque Vaughn maintains the former All-Star is a "game-time decision." Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel notes that Nelson was shooting baskets with J.J. Redick after Orlando's shootaround Friday morning.
Nelson has missed all but one game of the 2012/13 season with strains in his right hamstring and groin. In Nelson's absence, second-year player E'Twaun Moore has started at point guard, averaging 13.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in 37.9 minutes.
Nelson has averaged 12 points, 2.6 boards, and 4.8 assists in 21 career games against the Pistons.
