After a long and busy offseason, the Orlando Magic begin their 2012/13 season Friday night against the Denver Nuggets at Amway Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 PM Eastern.
Orlando faces a Nuggets team with which it has some ties, despite playing two time zones and one Conference away: both organizations overhauled themselves over the summer by taking part in the same four-team, 12-player trade, with former Nugget standouts Arron Afflalo and Al Harrington coming to Orlando as part of the deal. From the Philadelphia 76ers, Denver received All-Star forward Andre Iguodala, whose versatility and athleticism seem tailor-made for innovative coach George Karl.
Harrington, who's recovering from offseason knee operations, will not play Friday against his former club.
Denver lost its season opener, 84-75, in Iguodala's return to Philadelphia. It shot 37.5 percent from the floor and surrendered 16 points and 12 rebounds to Sixers big man Spencer Hawes.
The Magic own an all-time record for 14-9 in season-opening games.
