Magic vs. Hornets: Arron Afflalo Questionable for Preseason Opener

A minor, recurring hamstring injury could sideline the five-year veteran Sunday in Mexico City.

The Orlando Magic begin the exhibition season Sunday in Mexico City against the New Orleans Hornets, but may do so without presumptive starting two-guard Arron Afflalo, reports John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com.

Afflalo sat out Thursday's practice due to a strained left hamstring, which injury Denton says "isn't thought to be a serious one." The veteran guard initially strained the hamstring two seasons ago, and the pain has flared up on him periodically since then.

Afflalo says he'll rest the hamstring so it can fully heal and "so that I can move forward the rest of the year."

The Magic have several of alternatives at shooting guard should Afflalo sit. In addition to top reserve J.J. Redick, the Magic also have Quentin Richardson, E'Twaun Moore, Armon Johnson, DeQuan Jones, and Christian Eyenga available to play the position.

Tipoff between Orlando and New Orleans is set for Sunday at 2:30 Eastern on NBA TV.
