Orlando Magic Schedule for Week One

A new era of Magic basketball begins this week with games against Denver and Phoenix.

Doug Pensinger

The Orlando Magic have a fairly light schedule for the opening week of the 2012/13 season, with just two games on the slate.

OPP will do weekly schedule posts like this one throughout the year so you can plan accordingly for Magic games. Good news for this year: Fox Sports Florida will serve as the Magic's only local television broadcast partner, meaning you won't have to double-check TV listings on a nightly basis.

All times listed are Eastern.

Friday: Magic vs. Denver Nuggets, 7 PM, Fox Sports Florida

These two teams know each other fairly well, as Orlando acquired Arron Afflalo and Al Harrington from Denver in the Dwight Howard deal. Harrington's out for this one as he continues to recover from offseason knee surgery, but Afflalo is healthy and will start. The Nuggets inked point guard Ty Lawson to a four-year contract extension, reportedly worth $48 million, on Monday.

Interestingly, the Nuggets' all-time record in Orlando is 4-20, which includes a 15-game losing streak.

Sunday: Magic vs. Phoenix Suns, 6 PM, Fox Sports Florida

Like Orlando, Phoenix is in a rebuilding situation after trading its superstar to the Los Angeles Lakers. While Orlando reloaded with the likes of Afflalo and Harrington, the Suns went to free agency and nabbed guys like Michael Beasley and Goran Dragić.
