So much for retiring Shaq and Greg Kite’s numbers.

I don't understand why we would retire Shaq's number...

I’ve been a Magic fan since I was a kid, but Shaq pretty much did nothing other than tear the hearts out of Orlando fans. Unless he goes into the hall of fame as a Magic player, there is no reason to retire his number.

Sarcasm.

Uh

Greg Kite was the single greatest player in franchise history. If we don’t retire his number it will be a shame.

I'm all for retiring #1 right now as a quasi tribute to Penny

and if it were to get the current clown wearing number #1 to retire and get him off our roster.

I wouldn't mind that idea of retiring Penny's number.

I thought Gil was changing his number though? (I know, shocking isn’t it?)

Good for Harper for wearing Otis smith's #32

Harper wearing #32

has nothing to do with whether the Magic will retire Shaq’s number, plenty of teams have retired a player’s number after another player has worn it.

Personally I’ve always thought that numbers shouldn’t actually be barred from use. Teams aren’t so much retiring a particular number so much as they are the jersey, out of respect and admiration towards the player. It is used as a bench mark, a trophy of some sort, for the fans and future players alike to look up to as an objective to be reached in some fashion of the basketball franchise. They have the jersey banner hanging in the rafters, anyways, why also make sure that their is no one with that number? Do they really expect someone to get confused, especially when they usually list the dates of the players career on the banner as well?

Dwight Howard - "My Gosh, what is that smell?"
Otis Smith - "That's the smell of success my man."
Dwight Howard - "No, it smells like a used Arenas... filled with... Turkoglu..."
Otis Smith - "You know, success smells like that to some people." (turns and walks toward a crowd of fans)
Fan#1 - (Disgusted) "What is that? Smells like a turd covered in burnt hair..."
Otis Smith - (Tries to act casual and walk away) "Woah, what's that smell?"

Enlighten me with these supposed 5 levels

Dwight Howard - "My Gosh, what is that smell?"
Otis Smith - "That's the smell of success my man."

Only one of them will make the team.........(maybe).

I don’t think that the Magic will carry three rookies (including Orton) in thier roster next season, perhaps DeAndre for his defence skills will have a greater chance to make the team than Harper; However if for some reason the Magic trade Bass or Ryno and won’t be able to re-sign Earl Clark then Harper will have a slightly chance to make the team, otherwise I see DeAndre Liggins with better chance to make the team than Harper. I hope both of them can proof me wrong…….

I think they'll both make it.
