Evan
Is there any truth to this fanhouse article saying Dwight can sign an extension right now for 2 years 40 something million?
and if so what are your thoughts on this issue… It would make sense to me that if Dwight can sign an extension before the CBA ends that would guanatee him a much larger salary than he could or would get if he becomes a free agent, that it would be a no brainer… unless of course he truly wants out of Orlando

Yes, he can sign an extension now. That's true, as the NBA spokesperson Chris Tomasson cited indicates.

It seems
Dwight loses a substantial amount of money by chosing free agency… he must really want to see whats out there for him…

Something like 10 mill, I think?
And, honestly, I think that seeing what is out there is his choice, and that’s fine. He’s got a right to explore his options - and in the meantime, he’s going to be evasive, non-commital, and vague with regard to statements about his future. If he’s willing to leave that much money on the table, it must really be consequential to him.
I hope that all parties involved, particularly the fans and the media, will just relax and not blow everything Howard says out-of-proportion for the next year. That’s probably a vain hope, but eh . . .
I guess that's the way the whole durned human comedy keeps perpetuatin' itself.

The question is with the uncertainty about CBA, wouldn't it be in his best interest monetarily to extend now or before the end of the season, anyway?

Yep
Orlando will, one hopes, try very hard to get something done as soon as the Magic finish playing this season.

what about this.......
D12 might be thinking that if he signs the extension now, Otis will no longer have the pressure on him to try and make this team better NOW!!
