On January 7th, the Orlando Magic announced a new promotion with Papa John's Pizza, entitled Score 110, wherein Central Florida fans who used the code MAGICWIN on the Papa John's website on days following Magic wins in which they scored 110 points or more would receive 50 percent off their order. Since that time, the Magic have accomplished the feat four times, giving Orlando fans the opportunity to enjoy several discounted meals.
The trades the Magic made on December 18th have boosted their offense to new levels, further improving Magic fans' chances of cashing in on cheap, yet tasty, pies. Since the trades took effect, Orlando's scored 110-plus points and won eight times in 18 games. Prior to the deals, Orlando did it just thrice.
To these eyes, this deal doesn't quite beat Orlando's partnership with Dunkin' Donuts during the 2007/08 season, when the Magic need only win--with no minimum point threshold--for fans to receive a free donut the next morning. But it's darn close, and also offers more food. Kudos to the Magic and Papa John's for making this deal happen.
No word on if Hedo Turkoglu, the Magic forward who famously munched on pizza before playoff games in the 2008/09 season, has cashed in on this deal just yet. Ball.
