Orlando Magic News for September 16th: the Magic's All-Time Worst Players, Positional Shot Analysis, and Dwight Howard in Court

  • NBA - The worst five players in every franchise's history - ESPN

    Tom Haberstroh of ESPN Insider lists the five worst rotation players for each NBA team's franchise history. The Orlando Magic's list includes Greg Kite, who, as Haberstroh explains, had the least productive season ever for a player averaging 10 minutes per game during his final season in pinstripes.

    At Hardwood Paroxysm, Haberstroh looks at median shot-distance distribution among all five positions. Interestingly, he notes that Magic point guard Chris Duhon was "the most long-two resistant point guard" in the league last year. The Magic have invested heavily into advanced scouting and analytics, which may explain some of their interest in adding a player like Duhon who rarely attempts the least efficient shot on the floor.

    Magic center Dwight Howard has filed a $500 million lawsuit against Royce Reed, the mother of his child, based on alleged violations of a confidentiality agreement they signed a while ago.

Sports, who started publishing his basketball stories on the internet when Rony Seikaly was the Magic's starting center, discusses the value of, and purpose for, blogs in covering today's NBA. It's a subject with rather obvious appeal to me, which is why I'm passing it along despite its not pertaining to the Magic.
