The Orlando Magic have made their first offseason signing on the first day of the free-agency period, but it wasn't a free agent: first-round draft choice Daniel Orton told Tania Ganguli of the Orlando Sentinel that he has signed with the team. Under the current collective bargaining agreement, rookie contracts are guaranteed for two years, with teams holding options on the third and fourth years.
Orton will make his Magic debut on Monday for their Summer-League squad.
