The Orlando Magic have once again teamed with Subway Restaurants for a holiday giveaway, the team announced today in a press release, this one featuring Magic guard J.J. Redick. Starting tomorrow, "Each person who purchases a SUBWAY® gift card for the amount of $50, or gift cards that add up to $50 in value, will receive one limited edition mini basketball signed by Redick, along with a Certificate of Authenticity, until December 31 or while supplies last," according to the release. Both parties are thrilled with the promotion:
"This ‘gift with purchase’ opportunity is very exciting, especially this time of year. Shoppers can maximize their gift-buying budgets by getting a Subway card and an amazing piece of sports memorabilia at the same time," said Peter DiPasqua, Subway Owner and President of DiPasqua Enterprises.
Past giveaways have included an autographed sneaker from Hedo Turkoglu and an autographed photo by Jameer Nelson, if memory serves.
Now in his fifth season with Orlando, Redick has become a fan-favorite for his hard-nosed play off the bench. The Duke graduate owns a career scoring average of 7.1 points per game and ranks 10th in team history in three-point shooting, connecting on 38.4 percent of his triples. The Magic matched a free-agent offer sheet he signed with the Chicago Bulls this summer, keeping him under contract for the next three seasons.
