Schmitz: Orlando Magic Close to Signing Either Eddie Gill or Mike Wilks

Good news! The Magic are going after a free-agent, third-string point guard! Quoth Brian Schmitz:

Well-traveled free agents Eddie Gill or Mike Wilks are in the mix to be signed as the Orlando Magic's third point guard, according to Magic General Manager Otis Smith.

Schmitz mentions that Gill is 6'00" and Wilks is 5'10". Current starter Jameer Nelson is 6'00" and current backup Anthony Johnson is 6'03". Nothing quite like having an entire position manned by undersized men, am I right?

For what it's worth, Gill played in 14 games for two different teams last year, averaging 2.7 points, 1.6 assists, 0.6 turnovers, and shooting 38.7% from the field; Wilks played in 15 games for three different teams, averaging 2.7 points. 0.9 assists, 0.6 turnovers, and shooting 47.2% from the field. There's a reason why neither point guard has stuck around for very long, but it may not matter; third-string point guards only play spot minutes anyway... barring injury.
