Orlando Magic 100, New Jersey Nets 84

The Orlando Magic won this one tonight, 100-84, no thanks to the starters. Keyon Dooling and Brian Cook lead a late first-quarter rally to pull the Magic to within two. After surrendering 6 straight points to the Nets to start the second quarter, the Magic buckled down defensively, holding the Nets to 32% shooting in the period to take a commanding lead they never relinquished.

Carlos Arroyo started at point guard for the Magic. He played for 5 minutes before Stan Van Gundy yanked him, Rashard Lewis, and Maurice Evans with the Magic trailing by 11. Dooling took over the point duties for the next few minutes, scoring 7 points, before Jameer Nelson entered the game. He finished with 11 points, 8 assists, and 1 turnover in 25 minutes.

Arroyo did not re-enter the game.

J.J. Redick saw no playing time tonight despite the Magic's large lead late in the game. Nets coach Lawrence Frank emptied his bench, letting little-used point guard Marcus Williams get about a minute of playing time. Van Gundy could have rewarded Redick for his dedication in practice by substituting him in, but he instead inserted Keith Bogans into the lineup. Keith was not-so-Kool tonight, missing all of his shot attempts and not getting to the foul line once. And Stan didn't think J.J. could do any better? Huh?

Intermittent internet connectivity, as well as school deadlines, prevent me from looking at this one in any more detail. Here's the boxscore, the GameFlow, and the best picture of Hedo Turkoglu ever taken.

Should have a post detailing potential trade targets up sometime tomorrow afternoon or evening. Stay classy.
