A Championship-Caliber Team

Ok here me out. This plan relies on a lot of factors going our way, the biggest being signing Al Horford. So here it is.

2016-2017 Plan:

-Sign Horford to a max deal

-Sign Lance Stephenson to 3 year 8mil (Got this idea from Hot Hoops)

-Resign Dedmon to 4 year 4mil

-Resign Fournier

-Resign Nicolson or Jason Smith

Lineup:

PG- Payton/Watson

SG- Oladipo/Stephenson

SF- Fournier/Hezonja

PF-Gordon/Smith or Nicolson

C-Horford/Vucevic/Dedmon

Here me out on the Stephenson. He can be a prolific scorer and is a great ballhandler who can take over when/if someone is injured or we need more length. He has a good enough shot that defenses have to respect. I don't even think about signing him normally but with Vogal, he has the potential to give us that edge we desperately need. We only do this if Vogal thinks he can tame him. Horford would allow spacing for dipo, payton, and gordon to drive and get easy baskets or get fouls and get to the free-throw line. This team should easily get us into the 7th or 8th seed, especially considering the improvements from all of our young players.

2017-2018 Plan:

Do the unthinkable...pry Paul George Away from Indiana. George has very strong ties with Vogal and after seeing the potential of this team, George will realize how much better of a situation Orlando is than his current Indiana Team. Sign Oladipo to max deal if he pans out or trade him. The lineup then becomes:

PG-Payton/Stephenson/Watson

SG-Oladipo/Fournier

SF-Paul George/Hezonja

PF-Gordon/Nicolson or Smith

C-Horford/Vucevic/Dedmon

Tell me that's not a championship caliber team with killer defense (with Vogal's help of course)? All of our young guys will have one more year of experience (stronger, better shooting, and decision making). For the bench we could even run twin towers of Dedmon and Vuc, which in a starting lineup would not work, but off the bench might. Not to mention our draft pick will also be here. Stephenson is a great ballhandler and could really help lead the second unit. With Fournier and Hezonja as lethal 3pt threats and if you add Nicolson in there, that lneup would be hard to deal with. All of them can put the ball on the floor and drive. Vuc would kill second units or insert Dedmon for a potent rim-protector and lob recipient. AG and Hezonja should be beasts by then and hopefully Elfrid develops a reliable shot, but unfortunately that's a big "if." I'm not even addressing Paul George because we all know exactly what he would do for the team.

So what do you guys think? That lineup has crazy athleticism.
