The Magic improved to 2-0 in Summer League play Monday.

The Orlando Magic won their second Summer League game in as many tries Monday, beating the Houston Rockets, 87-69. Orlando got a huge boost from rookies Elfrid Payton, Aaron Gordon and Devyn Marble. Payton scored 12 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished nine assists.

Gordon, flashing his athleticism, scored nine points and grabbed seven boards. Marble added nine points off the bench. Kadeem Batts and Seth Curry, both fighting for roster spots, combined for 20 points.

The Magic jumped out to an early 10-2 lead to start the game, thanks to some solid play from Payton and Dewayne Dedmon. The combo hooked up on two dump offs, one resulting in an and-1 opportunity and the other ending in an alley-oop.

Orlando kept the pace up early in the second quarter, taking a 28-13 lead on two straight Curry jumpers. Houston began falling apart defensively, missing on several back end rotations. Still, credit the Magic's young guns for finding seems in the defense and attacking aggressively. Payton finished a two handed slam, then two late buckets at the end of the half to give the Magic a 54-31 halftime lead.

The Magic flattened out in the third quarter, but never gave up their lead. And they never budged in the fourth quarter, either, holding on to a double-digit advantage the entire way.
