When I initially heard the news about Afflalo getting dealt I was throwing pudding all over the place. There was several aspects of the deal that I hard a hard time accepting. Why couldn't we get a first rounder? Who is Evan Fournier? Why the hell are the Magic dumping salary?
Most people believed the salary dump portion of this deal was to better position us to make another move. I have a theory about what that second move may be. That's where the Houston Rockets come into play. Jeremy Lin's contract is a major road block in them pursuing Lebron or Melo. But they have another interesting dilemma on their hands, Chandler Parsons! If they truly want to sign another Max player they will be hard pressed to pay Chandler what he is worth. So here's my proposed deal:
Magic get: Chandler Parsons + Jeremy Lin Rockets Get: Jameer Nelson
This would essentially be a deal to swap Jameer and Lin's contracts that are both around $8 million. The rockets would then buy out Jameer at $2 million and get to shed $6 million off their cap figure. and in return we would demand Chandler Parsons who they can't afford to pay anyway.
What do you guys think? I think Chandler is an ideal fit for our roster for a variety of reasons. he is a lights out shooter, and can penetrated and get to the free throw line. Great all around player with a high basketball IQ. he had an all star caliber season last year playing in the west.
What other potential deals for Jameer's expiring contract do you guys like?
