I didn't see the draft live, and maybe I'm glad I didn't so my TV wouldn't have a broken screen with a remote sticking out of it. Why? We drafted Aaron Gordon with our 4th pick (heaven knows why). And I nearly had a heart attack when I saw we drafted Dario Saric with the 12th. Luckily, I'm alive and well because we traded him for Philly's Elfrid Payton. Still, I'm shocked... confused... with a dash of anger.
I was ok with the Arron Afflalo trade. But Hennigan is really starting to scare me now. What are his visions exactly? Does he think we can start winning games next season? Does he think we should tank for the next 3 years? Is he mentally possesed by Otis Smith? Or was Dwight Howard trolling Hennigan's horroscope? There's so many questions. So many unanswered questions.
So, that's why I think people should wait and see before they start judging what Hennigan has done. I haven't seen OPP in such a hissy fit since I said we should trade for Rudy Gay. Seriously, I don't think we should be talking until we see them play. Who knows? Maybe Aaron Gordon worked on his shot and it's better now? He did say his workout with Orlando was great. Maybe Elfird Payton is the future point guard we need? He averaged 19.6 points last season, as well as 6 boards and 6 assists. That's nothing to sniff at. Gordon also has proved he's a superb rebounder and elite defender.
Look, I'm nowhere near the smartest fan here, but I'm right when I say this. WAIT... AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. Surprises happen all the time. Do I think Orlando made the right choice? No. Did they make the wrong choice? No. Just got to see what happens. On paper, this looks like Rob Hennigan was smoking some serious weed when he decided this... yes. But, last time I checked, the NBA isn't paper.
