I did this last year just before the draft - http://www.orlandopinstripedpost.com/2013/6/23/4458178/looking-for-the-draft-clairvoyant
And i would like to do it again.
Everyone has been discussing their big board over the past few week... but I am interested to understand what people think WILL happen (as opposed to should).
So I came up with a very rudimentary way of measuring who is the best at anticipating what WILL happen. Feel free to join in (or not).
Simply post the lottery draft order you think players will be selected at (from 1 to 14), ignoring any trades (i.e if Orlando trades up from 12 to 9 and selects Jabari Parker then Parker is at 9).
Scoring is like this:
- 1 point for selecting a player in the lottery but at the wrong position (e.g. you pick Parker at 2 and he goes at 8)
- 3 points for selecting a player in the correct draft position (e.g. you pick Parker at 2 and he goes at 2)
- and since we have been focusing on it so much... 3 bonus points for selecting the correct player at numbers 4 and 12 (doesn't matter which team picks at these number in the end... it's all about the player)
Once the draft is over we can add up the points and work out who is the 2014 draft clairvoyant.
AG23 got the most points last year. And no-one picked Anthony Bennett as the first pick...
See how we go this year?
