So that didn't go quite as planned. In a little over a month from now, Orlando will select the #4 and 12 picks in one the most vaunted Drafts in recent memory. While a lot of focus has been placed on falling out of the Top 3 (Embiid, Parker, Wiggins in some order) at the Draft Lottery, the Magic still look to come out ahead with two top talents to help speed the team's return to relevancy.
Many mock drafts have the Magic selecting Dante Exum with its first lottery selection, providing Orlando's need of a playmaker to match with Oladipo for the backcourt's foreseeable future. Assuming Embiid or Parker doesn't fall to Orlando's lap, the Australian phenom arriving to the City Beautiful appears to be a likely outcome, unless the front office decides to go in another direction (see: Julius Randle, Marcus Smart).
Orlando has many team needs, including playmaking, shooting, and defense (so yes, all aspects of basketball). With the
Magic's 2nd lottery pick, there have been differing opinions as to who will they bring in, though most mock drafts seem to include some form of a shooting wing.
Below are the most recent selections in mock drafts at the #12 spot:
NBA.com Rodney Hood
Draft Express James Young
NBADraft.net Nik Stauskus
Dime Mag James Young
HoopsHype Nik Stauskus
Sports Illustrated Doug McDermott
Bleacher Report Adreian Payne
If available, who do you think would be the best fit with Orlando's #12 pick in this year's Draft?
