It seems like every year there are players who raise their draft profiles during the NCAA tournament. This year Adreian Payne is positioning himself to be one of those players. In Michigan States first round matchup against Delaware, Payne's performance was historic! In 24 minutes of playing time he amassed a gaudy stat line of 41 pts 8 rebounds and 1 block! What really makes those stats pop is the elite efficiency in which they were achieved. He was 10-15 from the field, 4-5 from the three point line and most impressively 17-17 from the charity stripe! He was dominant and clearly the focal point of the Spartan offensive game plan.
We have had some conversations in the past on the draft prospects of Adreian Payne. I have been an advocate of his and believe Tyler Lashbrook is a fan as well. For those who are not familiar with his game, he is An athletic stretch 4. He does everything fairly well. Decent post game, face up game, and as seen by the stats above a very competent shooter! He is a fourth year senior. That fact has hindered his prospects with some pointing to his age and late development as lowering his ceiling. I'm interested in how some of you view this player? Do you think his age limits him? Do you think he would be a nice addition to the Magic? Let me know what you think and I hope everyone follows him as the tournament progresses. Below should be a link of his historic performance.
