The Pinstriped Post community has been split in regards to the future of Arron Afflalo. There is a contingent of the fan base that wants Afflalo to remain with the team as one of it's core pieces for the future. The other portion of the fan base wants to leverage Afflalo as a trade asset in order to obtain either draft picks, young talent our some combination of both. My instinct is to flip him for assets. I have formed this opinion primarily due to his age. We have had many discussions about creating a competitive window of opportunity. With the Magic's young core having a median age in their early twenty's he just doesn't seem to fit.
I have to admit, I was slightly disappointed that a trade deadline deal for Arron Afflalo never materialized! I'm not overly concerned due to the fact that I have overwhelming faith in Rob Hennigan! I'm positive Afflalo is available for the right price and Hennigan is being his cool, calm, collected self! Many have suggested that more fertile trade grounds lay ahead somewhere near draft day. I would like to take this opportunity to tap into all the creativity and knowledge in our community. To start the conversation, I have two teams in mind that have quality picks in this years draft. Both teams also could have motivation to want a more NBA ready player versus a player that needs time to develop. The two teams I have in mind are the Lakers and the Sacramento Kings. Both teams could also appeal to Afflalo to opt into his player option in the 2015-16 season due to his roots in California. So there it is, I want to flip Afflalo this summer for picks and assets. I would love to hear suggestions on other potential suitors with picks or young players.
