Magic can't get to foul line against Bucks

Jameer Nelson and John Henson - Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Orlando drew only nine fouls Monday in Milwaukee.

The Orlando Magic fell to the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday for myriad reasons, but their inability to draw fouls was arguably the biggest. Orlando shot 5-of-8 from the foul line as the Bucks committed only nine fouls. Milwaukee's public-relations department notes that latter figure ties an NBA low for the 2013/14 season.

Magic swingman Arron Afflalo shot 3-of-6 from the foul line against Milwaukee, while Maurice Harkless and Tobias Harris each went 1-of-1, marking the extent of Orlando's ventures to the stripe. In its seven-point win, Milwaukee had a 16-point advantage on free throws, going 21-of-25 from the foul line.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton led the Bucks with two fouls apiece, and five other players committed one foul each.

Monday's game marked the sixth time in the Magic's 25-year history that they've drawn nine or fewer fouls, with four of those occasions coming during Jacque Vaughn's tenure as head coach. Orlando has shot eight or fewer free throws on 12 occasions, including Monday's loss. The team record-low is five, set on January 16th, 2013, against the Indiana Pacers.
