Arron Afflalo injury: Magic swingman sprains right ankle against Knicks

Orlando's top scorer tallied 32 points before exiting Friday's victory early.

The Orlando Magic picked up a big win Friday by rallying to knock off the New York Knicks in double-overtime, but they suffered a big loss on the night as well: leading scorer Arron Afflalo left the game in the second overtime due to a sprained right ankle and he did not return.

Magic coach Jacque Vaughn said Oladipo is "day-to-day" with the injury. "We'll keep looking at it," he said.

Afflalo, who scored 32 points before exiting, turned his ankle when he landed on it after leaping to dish an assist to Victor Oladipo at the 2:23 mark of the second overtime. The entire Magic team, including the coaching staff and the players on the bench, made its way to the far side of the floor to surround its leading scorer as team trainer Keon Weise tended to him.

Afflalo got to his feet and walked to the Magic's locker room under his own power, his face registering a combination of pain and reluctance. The seventh-year swingman told Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel that the team will re-evaluate the sprain on Saturday, after which evaluation it will determine whether he will accompany the team on its forthcoming three-game roadtrip.

Afflalo has appeared in 53 of the Magic's 57 games in the 2013/14 season, averaging a team-best 19.7 points to go with four rebounds and 3.6 assists.
