NBA All-Star 2014: Arron Afflalo finishes fifth in Three-Point Contest

The Magic swingman tallied a score of 15 in the first round and did not advance to the finals.

Orlando Magic swingman Arron Afflalo scored 15 points in the first round of the Three-Point Contest at All-Star Saturday, including hitting each of his last four shots on the moneyball-only rack, but wasn't able to advance to the final round to face Marco Belinelli of the San Antonio Spurs. Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal scored 21 points just after Afflalo's turn to knock the seventh-year player out of the competition.

Afflalo's performance from the right wing, his second rack, did him in: he missed all five shots from that spot. Overall, Afflalo's score of 15 placed him fifth in the competition, trailing Beal, Belinelli, Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard, and Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving.

In the Western portion of the competition, Belinelli advanced to the final round with a score of 19, draining each of his last three shots--all moneyballs from the right corner--to elevate him over Lillard by a single point. Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love and Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, who entered the competition among the favorites to win, each scored 16 points to tie for third in their Conference.
