The NBA announced Monday that Victor Oladipo was a nominee for Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors for February 3rd-9th. Boston Celtics big man Jared Sullinger earned the award for averaging 20.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks as Boston went 2-1.
Orlando went 3-1 in its previous week, with Oladipo averaging 15.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.5 steals. He played a key role in the Magic's win over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday, scoring 13 of his team-best 23 points in the fourth quarter to spark a Magic rally.
"He is special," Pacers swingman Paul George said after Sunday's game.
Oladipo becomes the second Orlando player to earn a Player of the Week nomination in the 2013/14 season, joining Arron Afflalo, who has received two nominations. Dwight Howard was the last Magic player to win the award, capturing it for his performances from January 16th-22nd, 2012.
The other Eastern Conference Player of the Week nominees were Brooklyn Nets center Mason Plumlee, Charlotte Bobcats center Al Jefferson, Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings, and Pistons gadget forward Josh Smith.
Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant captured Player of the Week honors out West.
