Orlando Sends: Jameer Nelson, Glen Davis, and Andrew Nicholson
LA Sends: Pau Gasol, Wesley Johnson, and a 2014 second round pick
Why Orlando Does it?
Pau Gasol may be up there in age, but he's been having a very solid season, (15.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks). He can mentor Nik Vucevic, and Wesley Johnson is a very athletic back up shooting guard/small forward, plus he's cheap. We get rid of Davis, and reluctantly get rid of Nelson so our younger players have more minutes. Plus, we get a 2014 second rounder, which is more than enough in this loaded draft class.
Why LA Does it?
They receive a solid power forward in Big Baby. Finally have a replacement PG in Jameer Nelson. Andrew Nicholson is a very solid, and young prospect the Lakers could work with, even though they lose a second rounder.
This trade is NBA Trade Machine Approved.
(UPDATE: Hedo Turkoglu will be waived today at 5pm John Denton reports. I have changed this trade because of this)
